House Sound Home Inspections consists of me, Mark Goodwin (the inspector) and Gerrie Goodwin (the manager). I was a licensed Home Inspector and Domestic Energy Assessor in the UK before moving to Canada. I then qualified as a Licensed Home Inspector to Canadian Standards via the Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors BC (now known as the Home Inspectors Association of BC).
My technical courses were backed up with building experience with two local construction firms here in Squamish. I was also selected to work as part of team on Federal Government contracts, assessing First Nations properties in the BC Lower Mainland and Northern BC. Please refer to my Linkedin profile for further details of my training and experience.
In my spare time, I work as a volunteer on the Board of Directors of the Sea to Sky Community Services Society. I am also a member of the Rotary Club in Squamish.
Having purchased property here in BC, I am acutely aware of the concerns that you may have when purchasing a home. To minimize these, I thought it best to qualify and use my transferable skills to help other home purchasers to come to an informed decision.
The Sea to Sky Corridor and Greater Vancouver is a beautiful place to live with a friendly and vibrant community but has a unique climate. Homes have to be constructed to be able to deal with these weather conditions. I enjoy ensuring that they meet these standards.
Gerrie’s experience comes from working in the financial services industry and educational fields. She now handles the marketing and sales in connection with running our home inspection business. This involves liaising with clients, networking and everything else involved with running the business.
Gerrie volunteers at the SPCA and at Pearls Vintage Seconds (run by Howe Sound Women’s Center).
